In My Garden

If you break off a leaf you will smell
the delectable scent of lemon mint.

I plant red petunias
every year, without fail.

Pansies that wilted
during a recent hot spell
slowly reviving

I took these two pictures when we were out bicycling.

As we cycled past the clover in the ditch,
a butterfly's bright sunrise colours
immediately caught my attention.

Later, I found out that this butterfly
is a Milbert's Tortoiseshell.

I'm glad I stopped...so excited to be able
to add another Tortoiseshell
to my list of butterfly sightings.

Clouded Sulphur
These pretty yellow butterflies are everywhere.

Pretty Blue Flowers

Perennial Flax
their slender stalks
gently waving
in the slightest puff
of wind

July

August
Larkspur
little horn of plenty
the hummingbird's flower

Pansy
with velvet petals
of the bluest hue
I choose you!

Sweet Pea Blossoms

"Here are sweet peas, on tip-toe for a flight:
With wings of gentle flush o'er delicate white,
And taper fingers catching at all things,
To bind them all about with tiny rings.
"
~ John Keats (1795-1821)

Sweet William Bouquets

Dianthus barbatus is a lovely flower to have in the garden. It sends out the most wonderful scent while attracting hummingbirds, bees and butterflies.
