The garden, I'm happy to report, is beginning to show signs of life. We can't expect too much yet, but it is nonetheless regenerating itself little by little. I spent part of the morning raking up leaves, and then I checked on the garden. The chives are sending out green shoots, and the rhubarb in the far corner is just now starting to poke through the ground. Most of my strawberry plants have come through the winter intact, and look fairly healthy and green. When I peered down to see if anything was growing amongst the dried stalks of the larkspur, sure enough, there were a few small pinky stems showing above the soil.
In the afternoon, it began to rain - a lovely, fine, spring rain.
